Abstract


The author has examined 2,797 school children and 327 teachers and analyzed with questionnaires in order to appraise the effects of oral health education. Such education methods as direct education with slide films and dentiform by 4 educators of the Korean Association of Oral Health and indirect education with video films produced as the same content, had been suggested and performed to object children, one month before appraisals. Each appraisal results were analyzed and compared with those of non-educated group. The obtained results were as followings.
1. It was estimated that_ the higher score remarks were revealed in educated children¢¥s group, both upper grade and lower grade, either with direct or indirect method of oral health education than in non-educated group
2. It took more time and exenseto perform the direct education, on the contrary, the effects of education was more in general and especially the meor effective in toothbrushing instruction as practice.
3. It was estimated that some benefit for convenience and economics was found to perform the; indirect education with video films, in spite of, more or less, lower appraisal remarks for oral health education than those of results in direct methods.
4. In general contents of oral health education the remarks were more high in grade up but there were revealed no relations between the remarks and children¢¥s grade in such subjects as toothbrushing instruction or malocclusion, influence by-the contents kof their textbook.
5. Most of teachers were interested in oral health education and hoped to be spreaded and`continued.
6. It was recommanded that the combination type of oral health education for direct method and indirect method would be performed for each school situations, to increase the effects of oral health education level for children.
